A young Tennessee mom could spend the rest of her life behind bars after a jury convicted her of murdering her 15-month-old daughter and stashing her body in a playhouse on her family’s property.

A Sullivan County jury found Megan Boswell, 23, guilty on three first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter Evelyn, who disappeared in 2019.

She was also found guilty of aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect. She had pleaded not guilty and did not testify in the case.

Closing arguments in Boswell’s trial ended on Wednesday, and the jury spent a little over four hours deliberating, per WJHL. On Thursday, the jury handed down a life sentence with the possibility of parole, the outlet reported, rather than impose a sentence of life without parole.

Evelyn was last seen in December 2019, and her remains were found in a playhouse on a family member’s property the following March.

Megan was indicted on murder charges in August 2020. During the frantic search for Evelyn, Megan gave contradictory statements during interviews with various local news publications, PEOPLE previously reported.

Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said at a 2020 press conference that every time authorities spoke to Evelyn’s mother, “her story changes.”

During his 2022 testimony, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Fraley reportedly testified that Megan falsely told investigators Evelyn had died while co-sleeping.
