Harrison was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m. on January 10 at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Texas. It remains unclear how or why she was shot, or by whom. An autopsy report found that Harrison did not have drugs or alcohol in her system, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Warrington Coroners Court opened an inquest into the young woman’s death on February 12, according to a statement from Cheshire Police.

A representative of the town of Prosper, Texas, stated that local police conducted a “thorough investigation” into the “tragic incident,” according to the BBC. They reportedly passed their files on to the Collin County District Attorney as a next step, per the outlet.

In the Cheshire Police statement, Harrison’s family spoke out about the loss of their loved one, saying Harrison exemplified a life lived “fiercely and fearlessly,” describing her as someone who was “not afraid to feel all that life has to offer.”

“She was the embodiment of wonderful contradictions; she adored travel and being away, experiencing new places and cultures, yet at the same time, she loved nothing more than snuggling up in her pyjamas with her candles on at home,” Harrison’s loved ones said in the statement.

The young woman’s former school, Great Sankey High School in Warrington, also paid tribute to Harrison in the wake of her untimely death. “Lucy was a bright and dedicated student. She was a well-liked and valued member of our school community during her time here with us,” the school said in a statement, per the Manchester Evening News. “She will be remembered for her hard work, dedication to her studies, and her friendly and positive presence within our college community. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this most difficult time.”
