Kadarius Toney, a professional football wide receiver who won two Super Bowl rings with the Kansas City Chiefs, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault last week in connection to an alleged attack on a woman in Georgia.

Toney, a two-time Super Bowl champion, allegedly strangled a woman with enough force to “leave red marks on her neck and cause petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by PEOPLE.

Another warrant, which charges him with obstructing someone from making an emergency call, alleged that Toney “took her phone away when she attempted to call 911 and canceled voice commands for the phone to call 911 while physically assaulting her.”

The warrants name the alleged victim; PEOPLE generally does not publish the names of alleged domestic violence victims.

The incident allegedly occurred on Jan. 14 at Toney’s residence in Douglasville, Georgia; the arrest warrants were drawn up the following day.

Toney was arrested on Feb. 6, per Douglas County jail records. Bond was set at $25,000 for each charge; he was no longer in custody as of Feb. 7.

The arrest was first reported by TMZ.

Toney played with the Cleveland Browns for three games last season. He previously played for the New York Giants before he was traded in 2022 to the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he won the Super Bowl in 2023 and 2024.

Toney could not be reached for comment.
