The father of a 3-year-old Ohio girl who was mauled to death by his dogs in late December is now facing charges, according to a release from Connie Pillich, Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney.
Kingsley Wright was fatally attacked two days after Christmas while visiting her dad’s Cincinnati apartment. Her father, Warren Houston, 45, has now been indicted by a grand jury on one count each of involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide and endangering children.

“This is a heartbreaking and devastating case,” Connie Pillich said in the statement. “No family should have to suffer such an unimaginable loss. While nothing can undo this tragedy, we are committed to ensuring accountability and justice.”
When he called 911 on Dec. 27, 2024, at around 7:50 am, Houston told authorities, “I just woke up and my daughter is dead,” according to audio obtained by WXIX. “There’s blood everywhere, I don’t know what happened. I don’t understand what went on.” He also told dispatchers the little girl was “tore apart.”
He told officers that his dogs, whom he reportedly identified as terriers, had been caged, but then he woke up to find his child had been attacked.
“I think we’re going to need animal care to respond here to secure two dogs,” an officer can be heard saying in footage obtained by WLWT5.
Cincinnati Animal CARE previously confirmed to PEOPLE that they were called to the home on Dec. 27 to remove three dogs from the scene. It’s unclear what became of the animals.
Houston is now being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center, WCPO reports.
In her obituary, Kingsley was remembered as “a happy girl with a beautiful laugh and smile.” She also “loved to sing and dance for her family, and always saw the positive and bright side of everything around her,” the obit continues.
